A Philips – Taiwan CEO:

"We started the battle for quality when we were facing most obstacles. The more problems, the greater the need for a quality management system".

Quality management system (QMS) represents the organization’s commitment to comply with the international business norms. This is achieved by implementing the ISO 9000 standard series. ISO 9001 standard is the fundamental standard of the series used to optimize the business process in all kinds of organizations, regardless of the branch of activity or end products/services- a brick, a building, a service or a document.

Reasons for implementing the QMS:

  • Improving the organization’s market share (or maintaining the existing market share);
  • Market demands (implementing the QMS according to the ISO 9001 standard requirements has become a prerequisite for conducting business in the European market as well as for successful operating in the domestic market);
  • Increasing the business process efficaciousness by applying statistical control and by clearly defining responsibilities, roles and interfaces;
  • Improving the competitiveness by:
    • Reducing the fallout level by improved HR training, preventive equipment maintenance, and clearly defining the production/ servicing process;
    • Reducing the number of customer complaints;
    • Increasing the staff productivity, which enables the survival in the market overflowing with low-cost competition;
  • Simplifying the quality control.

Implementing the QMS proved to be the best management improvement and HR control method in the east European market.

Benefits of implementing the QMS

The results of numerous personnel research conducted in the organizations with QMS indicate the following benefits:

  • Easier business activity control for the owners and top management;
  • Better management and a more effective organization processes by clearly defining responsibilities and interfaces, and introducing continuing improvement as a regular part of day-to-day leadership;
  • More market opportunities by delivering a product/service of standardized quality and by reducing losses, product costs and number of nonconformities and therefore increasing the profit. Furthermore, possession of a QMS certificate presents an increasingly important role in becoming a partner or a supplier of the leading international organizations;
  • Compliance with the technical requirements for exporting to the international market. European legislative grants considerable reliefs to the organizations with the ISO 9001 certificate or CE mark, due to simpler and less frequent product/service control. Moreover, all the countires applying for EU membership need at least 40% of their organizations certified according to the ISO 9001 requirements, which leaves conducting business in EU without this certificate hanging from a loose thread.

QMS implementation and certification activities

Choosing Tekon as your business partner gives you the opportunity to certify your QMS on short notice. Our approach encompasses the following activities:

  • Initial stage audit- our highly experienced consultants perform on-site auditing by reviewing the existing documentation, interviewing the managers and other personnel and visiting all the organization’s locations, on basis of which they make the Initial stage study which notes all nonconformances with standard requirements;
  • Informing the management- our consultants concisely and in day-to-day language communicate the basic aspects of this management system to the top management;
  • Training the QMS implementation workgroup- our consultants assist the organization’s management in forming the QMS implementation workgroup and perform the training necessary for QMS design and implementation.
  • Planning the QMS implementation, from the beginning to the certification itself;
  • Designing the basic documents- in order to hasten the implementation process, our consulting team designs the basic document drafts, which are later reviewed and modified by the implementation workgroup, in cooperation with our consulting team. Our years-long experience proves this is the most efficient and the fastest way of reaching the projected goal, as opposed to having the workgroup write the documents from scratch with the consultants only checking them for nonconformities with the standard requirements;
  • Training the personnel for implementing and using the designed documents.
  • Distributing and working by the documents- using the QMS documents in everyday work helps root the QMS in the very core of the organization, which is a prerequisite for a successful certification;
  • Training the internal auditing team- the personnel trained for conducting the internal audits is responsible for checking whether QMS functions as planned.
  • Internal audit- the internal auditing team conducts the first QMS internal audit, under the supervision of our consultants;
  • Preparing for the certification- the client sends the request to the chosen accredited certification body. All non-conformities form the internal audit must be addressed before the appointed visit by the certification body representatives;
  • The certification- being the official audit by the external auditors, usually comprised of two parts: pre-auditing and auditing.

Tekon helped a considerable number of public and private organizations both from Serbia and countries in the region implement and certify their QMS.
